"To Afford
Every Child with Special Needs the Opportunity
to Realize Their Full Potential."

The Standing Dani Wheelstand is
a pediatric mobile prone stander for children with
special needs. We feel much of the pediatric
assistive technology today offers little more then
comfort and convenience... comfortable for the
child, convenient for the caregiver, with minimal
therapeutic value. Without compromising
comfort and convenience, we provide the therapeutic
benefits of independent upright mobility with the
child at eye level with their playmates. |

The
Appropriateness of the Standing Dani®
The Standing Dani®
Wheelstand is a mobile prone stander for children with special needs. It is
designed to assist children with medical conditions that render them unable to
ambulate without assistance to realize upright mobility. Afflictions like
Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Cord Injury, and
Traumatic Brain Injury are just a few. The Standing Dani® Wheelstand supports a
child with special needs in the optimal, upright position, eye-level with
playmates, with hands free to interact with playmates. The child is securely
supported in the prone position with the ability to initiate movement.
Comfortable postural supports on the Standing Dani® Wheelstand enable the child
to enjoy social activities that require eye-hand coordination.
The Standing Dani® Wheelstand is an excellent means for achieving
the proven benefits of dynamic weight bearing through the lower extremities.
Strengthening of the bones, joint development, stretching of the ankle, knee,
hip flexors and abdominal muscles are realized when using a wheelstand.
Stretching the lower extremities and strengthening the upper body is the
accepted regimen for preparing a child for gait training. The Standing Dani®
Wheelstand does both while the child is rolling about, playing. Functions such
as respiration and digestion are also enhanced while upright. Incidences of
constipation and bladder infection are reduced when standing is a part of the
daily regimen.
The Standing Dani® Wheelstand simply raises the positioning
sophistication of standing mobility to the same level of sophistication as
specialized seating systems that are commonly found on today’s pediatric
wheelchairs. It is by far, the most versatile prone positioning system for
growing children with more interchangeable components and accessories than all
other standers combined. The Standing Dani® Wheelstand consists of two primary
components; a wheeled base frame and an attached prone board. There are dozens
of interchangeable positioning components with limitless combinations to permit
such remarkable possibilities. The Standing Dani® Wheelstand fits children from
three to five and a half feet tall. The smaller Sprout® Wheelstand fits children
from two to four and a half feet tall.
DavisMade, Inc, pioneered pediatric upright
mobility and continues to lead the industry when it comes to standing children
with severe and multiple impairments. The first of several patents was
issued in 1985 for the wheelstand design and the first sale occured in 1990.
Continuous design improvements are regularly retrofitted and incorporated onto
production models. To date, over 1,100 wheelstands have been delivered
nationwide. DavisMade, Inc. has maintained its leadership position by always putting the
childs needs first. Our wheelstand technology embraces the child's
universe; the home, school, out of doors, and even the therapy setting.
The Standing Dani wheelstand enhances the quality of life for the entire family
by providing technology that is functional, practical and easy to incorporate in
everyday activities.
